2021 Edition

Young people from placement centres receive an extra chance at education and access to jobs. Over 400 tennis enthusiasts, professional athletes and numerous public figures got involved in the 2nd edition of the charitable tournament

Tenis Pentru Fapte Bune, launched by The Social Incubator Association

The Tenis pentru Fapte Bune sporting event with social impact, held on 24-26 September 2021, was hosted by Pescariu Sports & Spa and aimed to involve the community in the lives of institutionalised young people and to raise funds to support them.

Over 3,500 young people leave the state protection system every year and, as an effect of the lack of integration, many of them become victims of human trafficking or drugs, are left without housing and only 1 in 40 manages to find legal employment. In its desire to change these statistics, the action of The Social Incubator Association gives young people from vulnerable backgrounds in Romania access to education, equal chances at a stable job and a better future as adults.

Celebrities such as Horia Brenciu, Cornel Ilie, Alexandru Bogdan and Cosmin Cernat joined the cause, leaving the spotlight for a day to play for change in the opening demonstration matches.

The charitable tournament was supported by professional athletes such as Monica Roșu, Gabriela Ruse, Mihaela Buzărnescu, Alexandra Cadanțu, Virgil Stănescu, Vasile Maftei, Elisabeta Lipă and personalities from the tennis world: George Cosac (FRT) and Cristian Mândru (TVR) who got actively involved by promoting the tournament and participating in the event.

Also during the event, 5 sporting items offered by ambassadors & partners were auctioned: rackets autographed by Gabriela Ruse, Mihaela Buzărnescu and Mats Wilander, Romania's Davis Cup shirt signed by Andrei Pavel and Virgil Stănescu's jersey from the Romanian Team, in support of the cause.

The game draw totalled over 100 amateur tennis players who competed in singles matches (women's and men's) and doubles, supported by over 300 spectators over the 3 days of the tournament.

„We were extremely glad to see that people do not remain indifferent when it comes to vulnerable young people and that they were willing to get so involved, even during this period that puts us all to new tests. Just like in 2019, thanks to those who love to do good, vulnerable young people were not forgotten and will be supported in the process of socio-professional integration. We are grateful to the ambassadors, players, spectators, partners, sponsors and everyone who put a piece into this wonderful puzzle that we managed to put together.” – said Adriana Preda, Executive Director of The Social Incubator Association.

„Tenis Pentru Fapte Bune has become a project dear to all of us, because it shows us every time how wonderful people are and how quickly they can come together to do good for those around them. There were 3 sunny days, 25 hours of play, 40 people involved in organising the event, over 300 tennis balls, over 100,000 steps and just as many smiles and rounds of applause. Tennis for good deeds means energy and enthusiasm, it means supporting vulnerable young people in Romania.” – said Cristina Nedelcu – Multiple World Champion in Gymnastics and Coordinator of the project.

The 2nd edition of the Tenis pentru Fapte Bune tournament also marked the launch of the nationwide SMS campaign that aims to support young people leaving the protection system in Romania. Actions for reintegration, access to education and to a dignified future through work can be supported by an SMS, with 2 euros to 8845 with the text JOB.

The Tenis Pentru Fapte Bune tournament was made possible with the help of the partners: Pescariu Sports & Spa, Tenis Club, The Gallery, Coca-Cola HBC, Decathlon, Eurosport, Regina Maria, Aston Com, Servier Pharma, Biborteni, Global Vision, BRD Group Societe Generale, Ford Cefin Trucks, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as the supporters Arana, Cadoul Special, Fico Gelato & More, Grace Couture Cakes, Gramofon Wine, Imod Flowers, Junior Pro Tenis, Lifecare Social, Maria Pălăria, My Geisha, Noblezza Beauty Clinique, Nordic Food, Red Carpet Studio, Sapori Tradizioni, Sempre Sano, Sportya, Team Fresh, Tudor Tailor, Velluto, Viwa Vitamin Water, Wagner, Weider, who contributed through their involvement to changing for the better the future of vulnerable young people in Romania.

About The Social Incubator Association

The Social Incubator Association, awarded at the CCIFER 2021 Gala with the Jury's Special Prize for its entire activity, is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation founded in 2014 to support vulnerable young people in Romania through direct, pragmatic and creative social interventions.

The organisation offers support for the socio-professional integration of institutionalised young people: free professional training courses and internships, support for finding legal employment and support for finding subsidised housing. The association also develops concepts and launches social projects that facilitate the professional insertion of disadvantaged people.

In May 2014, the organisation's main programme was launched, whose purpose is to support young people who have left – or are about to leave – the child protection system, aged between 16 and 26, to make the transition (otherwise very difficult and riddled with risks) to adult life.

At the milestone of 7 years of existence, the organisation's impact consists of 28 counties covered, 7,596 young people participating in the personal and professional development activities organised and 1,619 young people supported through counselling sessions in the process of social and professional integration, at national level.

„Tenis Pentru Fapte Bune”. The funds raised go to institutionalised young people

Over 3,500 young people leave the state protection system every year, upon reaching adulthood, unprepared for an independent life, are marginalised by society and exposed to a wide range of risks. As an effect of the lack of integration, many of them end up on the streets and even become victims of human trafficking or drugs.
