Sport teaches us that everything is possible, when there is desire, work, perseverance, communication and discipline. This is what we also learned from the first edition of the Tenis Pentru Fapte Bune tournament, held over 21-22 September 2019 at Pescariu Sports & Spa.

We joined forces to create the ideal setting through which passion for sport can generate a change for the better at community level, through the power of people who choose to get actively involved.

Why Tenis Pentru Fapte Bune?

„After reading the grim statistics about the fact that Romania ranks first in human trafficking rankings and learning that most of these people come from this disadvantaged background, are children who leave orphanages, I became very sad and I said ‘ok, I want my future contribution to society to be here and to make a difference‘”, declared Cristina Nedelcu – the project coordinator – in 2019.

What were the objectives in 2019?

„What we aim for through this tournament is to raise the general public's level of awareness of the social problems faced by institutionalised young people in Romania and to create a concrete framework through which the community can get directly involved in supporting them. We are convinced that Tenis pentru Fapte Bune will have a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable young people.”, said Adriana Preda, Executive Director of The Social Incubator Association, ahead of the first edition in 2019.

Today, we are extremely glad to say that the objectives have been achieved!

How did we manage to achieve them?

Everything was made possible with the support of the wonderful people who said YES! I want to get involved!

In 2019 we had 2 days of tournament, 10 ambassadors, dozens of hours of play, hundreds of tennis balls, thousands of smiles – that is what the first edition of the Tenis pentru Fapte Bune tournament looked like.

„It was tennis with a smile on our faces. It is an investment on two dimensions, both for the young people who will be helped, and through the fact that there are people who want to do this sport more and more” – this is how Cornel Ilie, the soloist of the band Vunk and a great tennis enthusiast, opened the first edition, who opened the 2019 edition with a demonstration match alongside Gabriela Ruse.

How were the funds raised used?

All the funds raised were directed to supporting the main programme of The Social Incubator Association, which aims, through direct and constant actions, to support thousands of young people in the child protection system, who in 2019 benefited from:

Good deeds lifted to the net. Hundreds of people played tennis for the young people who start a new life after leaving placement centres

There was a competition of good deeds on Saturday, in the Capital, at a tennis tournament. An association with a big heart gathered the enthusiasts of this sport in the arena and donated the money raised to the children in placement centres who are trying to start a new life. Each participant fulfilled a wish.
