RULES AND FORMAT OF PLAY

Social Financial Trophy is a team tennis tournament dedicated to companies in the financial sector

Team composition

A team is made up of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 players. Each team designates a captain who may or may not be part of the team. The players can be both men and women, the important thing being the level of play.

At registration, each team nominates all its players and assigns them a level: from 4 (beginner) up to 9 (former professional tennis player), based on a self-assessment that takes into account the materials available here: https://www.sportya.net/for-players

In the event that one or more players have the same level of play, the order in the team will be specified at the time of registration. This order remains valid until the end of the competition.

Example: player A has level 7, player B level 6, player C level 6 and player D level 6. At the time of registration it can be established that player C will be considered the team's second-best player, player D the team's third player and player B the team's fourth-best player. Thus, the order of the players in the competition will be: 1) A, 2) C, 3) D, 4) B, an order that is kept in every match. If the competition referee notices a clear, obvious difference between the ranking order of a team's players declared before the draw and the one observed on the court during the competition, that team's ranking order will be updated by the organizer. It can go, at the request of the opposing team, as far as replaying the match.

Competition format

The competition takes place in the form of a knockout draw of 24 teams.

A match between two teams consists of three games: two singles and one doubles, in which a single set is played with a tiebreak at 6-all. A match is won by the team that wins two of the three games of the match. The doubles game is always played after the singles games, which can be played one after another or in parallel.

In the doubles event, the „No ad” rule applies (at deuce a decisive point is played, the receiving team chooses the player who receives).

The doubles game is played even if the outcome of the match is decided after the singles games, except in the case where the teams involved agree not to play it, or in the case where the available time or the weather conditions do not allow it.

The nomination of the team players who will play a match is done 5 minutes before the match to the main referee, who checks the correctness of the nominations.

Order of the games

The doubles game of each match will be played after the singles games are finished. The singles games can be played one after another, if the match takes place on the same court, or in parallel, if the match takes place on two courts.

Within a match, in the first singles game Player 1 of team A will play vs. Player 1 of team B, and in the second singles game Player 2 of team A vs. Player 2 of team B. Then, in the doubles game any of the players registered in the team may play. In the situation where the singles games do not take place in parallel, the order of the singles games can be reversed insofar as both teams agree and this does not lead to delays in the match schedule.

Between the singles games and the doubles game there can be a break of at most 15 minutes.

Important notes

The time allocated for the warm-up is 5 (five) minutes before the start of the set.

The no-show of a player represents a game won by the team that showed up to play. A retirement represents the loss of the game in favour of the opponent.

The games will be officiated by the section referee.

The organizer reserves the right to make additions and/or modifications to this set of Rules, intended to lead to a better running of the event, at any time, with notification of the players and teams.

The games take place without a chair umpire, so the players will keep the score and officiate themselves. Any disagreements will be resolved by the section referee provided by the organizer.

The players fully understand the risks of practising the sport and the possible occurrence of injuries and assume full responsibility for their state of health. In this respect, the organizer brings to the participants' attention the necessity of undergoing a medical check-up before entering the competition, to certify that the player is fit for physical effort. The risk of not undergoing this check-up lies entirely with the players. By registering, the players consent that, in the case of an undesirable event occurring during the competition or the playing of a game, they will not file any complaint or claim against the organizer.
