Now in its second edition, the Tenis Pentru Fapte Bune tournament is a sporting competition for amateur tennis players who want to stay active and fully enjoy the chance to practise a sport they love, all while their action supports young people from vulnerable backgrounds in Romania in the fight for a normal life.
All the funds raised from the tournament are intended to support vulnerable young people in the programmes of The Social Incubator Association, through support in continuing their studies, their integration into society and into the labour market.
The rules of play are available here.
The organizers provide participants with: water and soft drinks, energy support (protein bars, fruit, energy drinks), match balls.
Participants will provide their own rackets and equipment.
The games will be officiated by the organizers.
The Tenis pentru Fapte Bune project is initiated by The Social Incubator Association and coordinated by Cristina Simona Nedelcu – Multiple Gymnastics World Champion and expert in sports management.
The statistics tell us that:
Over 3,500 young people leave the protection system every year, unprepared for an independent life, are marginalized by society and exposed to a wide range of risks. As a result of the lack of integration, many of them end up on the streets and even become victims of human or drug trafficking.
Only 1 in 40 young people who leave the protection system finds legal employment. Romania thus ranks at the top in the European Union when it comes to victims of human trafficking.
Through sport, we want to pass on the message of the thousands of institutionalized young people in Romania, who are in great need of support in the stage of transition to life on their own.
